Is your Facebook ok?

According to a carrer advice site, CareerBuilder’s report, 45% of employers reported they use social networking sites to research job candidates. Of those, 29% use Facebook, 26% use LinkedIn, 21% use MySpace, and few search blogs. Especially, hiring managers  from IT and Professional Business Services  industries are keen to screen  job candidates via social networking sites.

 The report also mentioned  35% of employers reported that they have discarded potential candidates due to the inappropriate contents and photos on their social networking sites.

Job seekers should be aware that the employers are now screening social networking websites more actively than ever and should take an appropriate action such as updating private settings, the report concluded.
